A new option for everyday appointments

One part of BayCare’s expansion along Moccasin Wallow Road is ready for patients. The new HealthHub opened September 14, bringing adult primary and specialty care, laboratory testing and outpatient imaging to 6620 Moccasin Wallow Road in Palmetto.

For Parrish households using that corridor, the immediate change is an additional place to handle routine appointments and diagnostic services. This is the outpatient building beside the future BayCare Hospital Manatee. The hospital itself is scheduled to open in 2028.

BayCare held the HealthHub’s ribbon cutting September 10, four days before the doors opened for care. Its announcement describes a facility of more than 46,000 square feet. That makes this a substantial medical-services opening, even while the larger hospital project remains ahead.[1]

One address, several different schedules

The distinction that matters when you leave the house is which department you’re visiting. BayCare lists general HealthHub hours of 7 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with hours varying by service. The lab closes earlier than that general listing.

BayCare Laboratories is in Suite 102 and lists weekday hours of 7 a.m.–3 p.m. It handles adult and pediatric testing. Walk-ins are accepted for testing other than glucose tolerance tests, which require a reservation. The lab’s published phone number is 800-324-7853.

Imaging is in Suite 101. Its listed weekday hours are 8 a.m.–5 p.m., again with variation by service; the scheduling number is 855-269-4333. Among the services on its page are MRI, CT, ultrasound, bone-density testing and screening and diagnostic mammography.

One detail is easy to miss: the imaging page labels coronary CT angiography as coming soon. It should not be treated as an available service simply because it appears in the same list.[2][3][4]

What this changes—and what remains ahead

My take: the useful part of an opening like this is the possibility of keeping more of an ordinary medical day close to home. A place for a scheduled scan or blood draw can matter long before an inpatient hospital opens. Whether that works for a particular household still depends on the provider, appointment and insurance arrangements.

The two buildings also deserve two different expectations. BayCare’s hospital announcement calls for 154 private rooms initially, with room to expand to 207. Those are future hospital plans, not rooms available inside the HealthHub today.

For an appointment, use the department’s own hours and contact information rather than treating the building’s opening hours as one schedule for everything. The HealthHub’s general number is 941-981-0020. Its official directory below connects the services at this address.[1][2]
