Reed’s 12 aces help Bulls put away Lemon Bay in four

Khyler Reed served 12 aces and piled up 15 kills, 26 assists and 20 digs as Parrish Community beat Lemon Bay in four sets Tuesday in Englewood.

The Bulls won 25–19, 25–22, 24–26, 25–14 on September 22, improving to 13–6 with their fourth consecutive victory. Lemon Bay fell to 6–10.

Parrish had a chance to finish in three. Instead, the Manta Rays took the third set 26–24 before the Bulls answered with their widest set margin of the night. It was Parrish’s first victory this season that wasn’t a sweep—and its ninth win in 10 matches.[1][4][5][2]

Reed’s 15 kills led the Bulls, with Alysa Jones close behind at 14 and Lily Smith adding 13. Jones hit .355, recording three attacking errors in 31 attempts.

Smith also contributed 14 digs, and Addison Brouwer finished with 17 assists. Parrish totaled 54 kills to Lemon Bay’s 34 and held a 16–7 edge in service aces, with Reed supplying three-quarters of the Bulls’ aces.

The win continued a stretch that began with the September 5 victory over Saint Stephen’s Episcopal and includes last weekend’s 4–1 tournament performance. Windermere is the only team to beat Parrish during those 10 matches.[1][4][5][2]

The Bulls host Palmetto on Thursday, September 24, at 7 p.m. Parrish swept the first meeting on the road September 15; the Tigers enter the return matchup with a 6–11 record.

Parrish’s recent run has improved its overall record without changing its 0–3 start in Class 6A, District 11. The next district opportunity comes September 29, when Sarasota visits. The Sailors won the first meeting in five sets on September 1.

For the Bulls, that is the next step: turn a strong stretch against non-district opposition into a result against a team that has already beaten them. First, they get a familiar opponent at home. Thursday’s Palmetto match is at Parrish Community High, 7505 Fort Hamer Road.[2][3]
