Parrish Community made it five straight wins Thursday, sweeping Palmetto 25–17, 25–21, 25–12 at home. The Bulls will take a 14–6 record into Tuesday’s rematch with Sarasota, still looking for their first district victory.
Thursday’s closest set was the second, which Parrish took by four points. The Bulls finished with their widest margin of the night, holding the Tigers to 12 in the third. Palmetto fell to 6–12.
Harper Strott led the Tigers with seven kills and added 12 digs. Darma Rodriguez finished with 14 assists, 13 digs and two aces, according to Palmetto’s posted match statistics. Those efforts couldn’t prevent a second straight-set loss to Parrish this month; the Bulls also swept the September 15 meeting at Palmetto.
Parrish has now won 10 of its past 11 matches. Nine of those victories were sweeps, with Tuesday’s four-set win at Lemon Bay the exception. Windermere handed the Bulls their only loss in that stretch on September 18.
For all those wins, Parrish remains 0–3 in Class 6A, District 11.
Sarasota visits Tuesday with a 10–9 record and a 1–3 district mark. The Sailors won the first meeting in five sets on September 1, then lost their most recent district match 3–1 at Lakewood Ranch on September 22.
The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. September 29 at Parrish Community High, 7505 Fort Hamer Road.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
