Three Saturday sweeps put Bulls volleyball at 12–6

Parrish Community needed extra points in both sets to finish a perfect Saturday. The Bulls beat Lake Mary 26–24, 26–24 on September 19, completing three sweeps in one day and a 4–1 tournament weekend.

That last match was considerably tighter than the two before it. Parrish opened Saturday with a 25–21, 25–9 win over Harmony, then held Cornerstone Charter Academy to 13 points in each set. Lake Mary pushed both sets beyond 25, but the Bulls came away with all six Saturday sets and a 12–6 overall record.

It was a strong answer to Friday’s finish. After beating Circle Christian 2–0, Parrish lost 26–24, 25–17 to Windermere. The Wolverines were the only team to take a match—or a set—from the Bulls during the five-match weekend.[5][3][4][2][1][7]

The bigger picture is a September turnaround. Since falling to 4–5 at the earlier September 4–5 tournament, Parrish has won eight of nine matches. Every one of those eight victories has been a sweep.

The run includes the September 15 road win at Palmetto, and the Tigers get their return match this week. First comes Tuesday’s trip to Lemon Bay, which enters the week 6–9.

For all that progress, Parrish still has work to do in Class 6A, District 11. The Bulls remain 0–3 in district matches; their next district date is September 29 at home against Sarasota. The Sailors won the first meeting in five sets on September 1. A team that has made a habit of sweeping opponents now has a chance to carry that form into the part of the schedule where it has struggled.

Parrish visits Lemon Bay in Englewood on Tuesday, September 22, at 7 p.m., then hosts Palmetto on Thursday, September 24, at 7 p.m.[7][6]
