A look inside the new ER

There’s a date to put beside the new Manatee ER at Harrison Ranch: Tuesday, September 22.

The hospital’s invitation calls for a ribbon cutting from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 10820 U.S. 301 N. in Parrish, with facility tours, guest speakers, refreshments and giveaways. Its RSVP page is accepting responses for that morning.

For neighbors who have been following the project, the tours are the useful part. A building going up along 301 is one thing; getting a look at the treatment space and asking how it will operate is another.

One detail deserves a clear line under it: September 22 is the announced celebration. The invitation and registration page do not establish the first day the ER will accept patients.[1][2]

What Harrison Ranch is getting

Manatee ER at Harrison Ranch is an extension of Manatee Memorial Hospital. In its project announcement, UHS described a freestanding emergency department of more than 10,000 square feet at Harrison Ranch Boulevard and U.S. 301.

The announced plans include nine private rooms, a full-service laboratory, CT, X-ray and ultrasound, with emergency services available around the clock. UHS also said outpatient imaging and laboratory services would be available. Those are the planned services; the ribbon-cutting notice does not provide a separate start date for each one.

The word “freestanding” is useful here. This is an emergency department at its own location, connected to Manatee Memorial, rather than an announcement of a full inpatient hospital campus at Harrison Ranch. The nine-room figure describes the planned ER rooms.

That distinction helps make sense of the medical construction residents see around North Manatee. Different projects can add different kinds of care, even when the signs all feature a hospital name.[3][1]

If you want to attend

The invitation directs guests to the hospital’s SurveyMonkey RSVP form, linked below. It also lists treats from Tom’s Travelin’ Coffee Truck and Culver’s. Pulse of Manatee’s September 10 event report asks guests to RSVP by September 11, so interested residents should respond promptly.

I’d use the visit to ask three practical questions: When does patient care begin? Will outpatient services open on the same schedule? And where will the hospital post those details? Those answers will tell neighbors more than a ceremonial date alone.

For now, the event is scheduled, the location is clear, and there’s a way to register. The next milestone to watch is the hospital’s announcement that patient services are open.[1][2][4]
