The road name alone does not tell the whole story
If you are waiting for Moccasin Wallow Road work to finish, the first question is which part of the corridor you mean. The county-linked project site breaks the improvements into segments with different boundaries and schedules. A date attached to one segment does not establish that the entire road project will be finished then.[1][2]
The two segments to distinguish
The project’s resources page describes Segment 2 as running from 115th Avenue East to just east of Bay Winds Parkway. Segment 3 continues from the Bay Winds Parkway area toward Buffalo Road/Wellness Drive, just east of I-75.
In its cost-and-schedule section, the page lists Segment 2 construction beginning in December 2024 and a completion field reading “September Late 2026.” Segment 3 is listed with a September 2025 construction start and a mid-2027 completion target.[1]
Why we are treating those dates cautiously
Elsewhere on the same page, an earlier schedule section still describes Segment 3 construction as anticipated to begin in spring 2025. That conflicts with the later entry. The page also gives Segment 2’s target as September 2026 in one place and the less precise wording noted above in another.
These are the project page’s published entries as checked September 8. They should not be treated as confirmation that a section has opened or that a particular traffic pattern will end on a certain day. A dated construction notice or completion announcement would provide a stronger basis for that claim.[1]
What to check for your own route
Identify the segment containing the entrance, intersection, or stretch of road you actually use. Then look for the latest dated update covering that location. This avoids applying a corridor-wide headline to a smaller piece of your commute.
- Find the exact road limits in the notice.
- Check the date the change begins and whether an end date is actually provided.
- Distinguish a temporary traffic shift from final project completion.
- Use posted signs and current travel information on the day of your trip.
The next useful milestone
For residents, the meaningful update will be a confirmed change: a new traffic arrangement with dates, a completed segment, or a revised schedule explained by the project team. Until then, allow flexibility when an appointment depends on moving through the work area.
We will follow the individual segments and keep the event date attached to future updates. That makes the story useful for someone deciding how to get to school, work, or a business along the corridor.
