The date to put on the calendar

Manatee County’s current splash-pad information lists a seasonal closure beginning October 1, 2026. That includes the Parrish Park splash pad at 7550 Fort Hamer Road. The county has not yet posted a reopening date.

If water play is the main reason for your trip, September is the remaining month to plan around under the published schedule. A future warm afternoon in October will not, by itself, mean the splash pad is operating.[1]

The park and the splash pad keep different hours

The splash pad’s listed hours are 8 a.m. to dusk. The wider park is listed as open from sunrise to sunset. Weather or maintenance can close the splash pad without notice, so use the status link on the county’s water-play page on the day you intend to visit.

This is especially useful when coordinating with another family. Check once before everyone leaves, and agree on the playground as a backup only if conditions are suitable for outdoor play. During unsafe weather, changing to another outdoor activity is not the solution.[1][2]

What this means for birthday parties

The county explicitly separates a pavilion rental from splash-pad availability. The rental does not include or guarantee that the water will be running. A reservation for the pavilion can still serve a gathering, but a splash-pad party needs the water schedule checked separately.

For a party after September, plan the invitation around a picnic or another activity that does not depend on the splash pad. If you already described an October party as a water-play event, send guests a practical update before they arrive with only swimsuits and towels.[2]

A few things to put in the bag

For a visit while the splash pad is operating, bring a towel and dry clothes for each child, water to drink, and shoes for the rest of the park. Keep the trip simple enough that an unexpected closure does not unravel the whole day.

The county states that the splash pad has no lifeguard on duty and requires supervision of minors. Follow posted rules and leave the water-play area when lightning or inclement-weather warnings require it.[1]

Where to look for reopening news

Use the county’s splash-pad page for the eventual reopening announcement. An old spring date from a prior year is not a substitute for the next confirmed season. Our park guide also brings together the pavilion details and visit-planning information, so you can choose an outing that fits the actual facilities available that day.
