I’d take the afternoon shift
Corporate Ladder Brewing Company is giving Saturday, September 26 over to Lagerfest, a free event at its Palmetto brewery. Doors open at noon and the event runs until midnight, but my vote for a date would be the afternoon.
Rockin Chilli is scheduled from 1–6 p.m. That gives lunch a defined window and leaves the evening open. An event that lasts 12 hours does not require a 12-hour commitment.
For Parrish readers, this is a nearby outing: the brewery is at 4935 96th Street East in Palmetto.[1]
What the beer part actually looks like
The brewery is building the event around classic styles, with its announced plans ranging from Pilsner and Helles to Märzen, Hefeweizen, English Mild and Porter. So the name does not mean an exclusively lager lineup.
It also isn’t billed as an Oktoberfest celebration. Think of it as a reason to explore a different part of the brewery’s range, rather than a promise of costumes, contests or a German festival program.
The final tap list was still pending when this story was prepared. I wouldn’t pick a specific beer in advance; I’d pick the afternoon and let the finished list supply the decision.[1]
The details that make this an easy date
Corporate Ladder has an outdoor beer garden, with orders placed at the indoor bar. For a two-person afternoon, I’d keep the plan that simple: somewhere to sit, something to eat and a conversation that gets longer than the drive home from errands.
The brewery’s regular food setup includes a partnership with Jaxx Wings: orders go through an in-taproom kiosk and come to the table. That is separate from the event’s visiting truck. The brewery also carries a rotating selection of nonalcoholic beer, useful when one person wants to come along without making beer the point of the afternoon.
Dogs are welcome in the outdoor beer garden; inside access is for service dogs. Children are allowed, with the brewery asking parents to keep them close in a working production setting. For my date-day suggestion, though, I’d keep the schedule pleasantly uncomplicated.[2]
For the later crowd
The brewery separately advertises Saturday karaoke from 9 p.m. to midnight, hosted by Jodi of Mustache You Entertainment. That is its regular weekly program; the Lagerfest listing itself focuses on beer and the afternoon truck.
Free on-site parking is listed. Lagerfest requires no admission ticket. The address is 4935 96th Street East, Palmetto; Saturday’s event runs noon to midnight.[3][1]
