A grocery trip with dinner attached
Whole Foods Market has put a date on its first Manatee County store: Thursday, November 5. The 42,000-square-foot location opens at 8 a.m. in Marketplace at Heritage Harbour, in Bradenton.
For Parrish households, the interesting part goes beyond another place to buy groceries. The announced lineup includes hot and salad bars, pizza, sandwiches and freshly made sushi. I like a grocery stop that can also settle the dinner question. That is one less debate to have in the car.
Whole Foods says the shelves will include more than 450 Florida products from at least 115 suppliers. Among them: Mozzarita mozzarella, Cedar Key Seafarms clams and Gelatys gelato pops.[1]
The Florida cheese worth a closer look
Mozzarita is a good example of what that supplier list can bring to the trip. The family-owned company traces its roots to founder Vito Volpe, who learned cheesemaking on his mother’s farm in Puglia, Italy. He brought that experience to Florida in 2005; the business says it has been family operated since 2006.
Today, Mozzarita makes its cheese in Pompano Beach using pasteurized whole cow’s milk from a Tampa dairy farm. Its broader range includes burrata, ricotta and scamorza, though Whole Foods specifically names its hand-pulled mozzarella for this opening.
My first shopping idea: mozzarella, tomatoes and bread. Dinner does not always need a recipe with seventeen ingredients.[2][1]
How the savings work
There are two different kinds of offers here. Opening day brings a tote and a Secret Saver coupon to the first 300 people in line, with savings of up to $100. That wording matters: it is not a guaranteed $100 grocery credit for everyone.
Separately, Whole Foods’ regular Prime benefit gives members an extra 10% off storewide sale items, excluding alcohol and gift cards. It is a discount on eligible sale prices, rather than 10% off every item in the cart. Members can identify themselves at checkout with the Whole Foods Market or Amazon app.
I would compare the foods I actually buy before deciding this becomes a weekly stop. An opening-day offer is a reason to browse; the regular basket is what earns a place in the routine.[1][3]
The essentials
Find the store at 7295 State Road 64 East, Bradenton. Regular hours will be 8 a.m.–9 p.m. daily. Whole Foods says grocery pickup will begin shortly after opening; a start date has not been announced.[1]
