Give the weeknight a chance
Monday has a branding problem. Friday gets the plans, Saturday gets the dinner reservation, and Monday gets whatever is left in the refrigerator. A $7 burger makes a respectable counterargument.
Ed’s Tavern’s Parrish location advertises an all-day Monday special: a single smashburger for $7, a double for $8, or a classic bacon cheeseburger for $9. The singles and doubles come with lettuce, tomato and American cheese; the bacon option uses a regular patty and cheddar. The offer is for dining in.
I’d lean toward the double. One extra dollar is a pretty short debate.
One address detail before you go: this is the Ed’s marketed as “Parrish,” at 9588 Buffalo Road, Palmetto. Use that address when making plans with someone; the company also has other area locations.[1][2]
The useful window is 3 to 7
Happy hour runs daily from 3 to 7 p.m., including weekends, with selected appetizers priced at $6 each. That “each” matters: the offer is a choice of discounted dishes, not six appetizers for six dollars.
My starting point would be the Philly egg rolls, which the menu describes with ribeye, peppers, onions and American cheese, served with beer cheese. Fried pickles or pretzel bites would give a shared order a different direction. The pretzels come with spicy mustard; adding beer cheese costs another $4.
Two $6 appetizers total $12 before drinks, tax, tip and extras. That makes the early-evening window worth considering if you want to share a few things rather than commit to two big entrées.
The happy-hour drinks list includes $4 house wines and $3 select draft beers. Those prices, like the food specials, apply to in-house dining. I’d use the food window as the reason to arrive early and let the evening decide the rest.[3][4]
Choose your kind of competition
The calendar gives you a few ways to turn dinner into a night out. General-knowledge trivia is listed for Thursday, September 17, at 7:30 p.m. Friday’s September 18 live-music listing also starts at 7:30.
For next week, the posted calendar has bingo Tuesday, September 22, at 7 p.m., and music trivia Wednesday, September 23, at 7:30. The restaurant describes bingo as free to play.
I like the trivia option for a low-pressure date or a catch-up with friends. You have something to do between bites, and you get to find out which person has been saving an alarming amount of information about old songs. Whether that becomes charming or competitive is between you and your team.[5]
Save the right details
Ed’s Tavern, 9588 Buffalo Road, Palmetto; 941-529-0528. These are the Parrish location’s posted offers and events, checked September 17. Prices and the entertainment lineup can change.
If the burger special is the draw, make it a dine-in Monday. If you want trivia or music, arrive in time for the earlier food specials and stay for the 7:30 start. Friday’s calendar does not name a performer, so use the event link for the latest lineup.[2][1][5]
