Kayla Hawk delivered another runner-up finish, and Parrish Community put both varsity teams in the top three Saturday at the Venice Invitational.

Hawk ran 20:17.8 for second in the girls’ race, behind Riverview’s Madison Muller in 18:41.8. Parrish finished third with 103 points, four ahead of both Charlotte and Wellen Park. Riverview won with 39, followed by Lemon Bay with 84.

The boys went one place better. Kai Minteer finished fourth in 18:12.1, with Elijah Castillo 14th in 19:15.4 and freshman Ian Perez 15th in 19:17.9. Vance Porter took 21st in 19:43.9; David Gamez completed Parrish’s scoring five in 47th at 21:22.7.

Those finishes gave the Bulls 98 points, behind Lemon Bay’s 72 and ahead of Wellen Park’s 109. Charlotte’s Jackson Winkler won individually in 17:47.7.

Claire Hoyer was Parrish’s second girl home, placing 19th in 24:24.1. Janie Longabach followed in 23rd at 24:37.3, Lacey Kimbrell in 29th at 25:28.5 and Audrey Stone in 55th at 28:17.8.

Hawk also finished second at the September 26 Lakewood Ranch meet, where Muller won and Minteer placed 13th. This time, Parrish’s team finishes were second and third, following eighth and tenth a week earlier. Different fields and courses make those placements a snapshot of each meet rather than a straight measure of improvement.

The October 3 races were held at Venice High School and timed by Beach Bum Timing. Full varsity and junior-varsity results are available below.[1][2]
